Study into the benefits of social enterprise delivery of public services

Commissioned by the Wales Co-operative Centre, a CMI team undertook a study drawing on original case study research to explore the benefits from social enterprise delivery of public services.

Considering aspects under the three main headings of trust, cost and capacity, the case studies illustrate how the social enterprise model can be used to provide highly specific combinations of skills and capacity under a cost model that is very different to both the public and private sectors. A particular focus in the study rested on illuminating the nature of relationships between public sector organisations and social enterprise vehicles that are conducive to positive partnership working.
