The Future Technologies Wales project was undertaken for the Welsh Development Agency as part of its EU sponsored Innovative Actions Programme.
Its main aim was to identify those technologies that could contribute towards the future economic development of the Welsh economy. To this end, the project tested strategic approaches to assess, introduce and absorb new technologies across Wales. These included: thematic and ‘regional’ forums, Delphi-style exercises, and online discussion fora. CMI’s role in this project was one of research / process consultant. Key tasks undertaken included desk research of sectors in Wales, analysis of global technological trends, advising on methods for short listing technologies, as well as consultation with stakeholders, report writing and action planning.
