CMI undertook final post project evaluations of 21 projects funded under the primary industrial research grant support programme in Northern Ireland – START.
The research followed the Northern Ireland Department for Enterprise, Trade and Investment evaluation framework for evaluations and comprised face-to-face interviews with company and university participants across the region. The research sought to identify companies’ baseline R&D activity and performance, the technical and commercial results of projects, and net economic impact on company sales, employment, GVA, and wider impacts. The findings from the research were subsequently analysed to identify the net impact on the project on the region, including economy and effectiveness. These findings were presented in a final synthesis report comprising 21 Post Project Evaluations and regional impact analysis.
