CMI undertook benchmarking of approaches to regional innovation governance in France.
Commissioned by a grouping of regional governance agencies in the French region Midi-Pyrénées CMI undertook a benchmarking exercise of different approaches to regional innovation governance in order to inform the agencies’ decisions regarding the institutional arrangements that were to underpin the development and implementation of the new regional innovation strategy. The benchmarking focused specifically on decision-making processes for strategy development and implementation and associated interactions between different players in the region rather than the organisational set-up. The review involved both desk research and interviews with a range of regional stakeholders and considered the regions of Bavaria, Catalonia, Basque Country, the East Midlands, Etela-Suomi and Hamburg.
